About David Myles
Career highlights past and present
Based in Rockville, Maryland, David Myles holds an MD and a master's degree in psychology from Yale University, where he received the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Jeanne Spurlock Fellowship and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) Diversity Award. David Myles completed his pediatrics internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as a residency fellowship in Health Policy from George Washington University. In addition, he also earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Morehouse College.
David Myles is a dedicated and accomplished professional with a diverse healthcare and public service background. Earlier in his career, he served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, providing patient care and instruction to medical residents at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. He held various leadership roles, including Vice Chair of the hospital’s Ethics Committee and Director of Inpatient Pediatrics during deployment on the USNS Comfort for Continuing Promise 2015. He was recognized for outstanding service and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in September 2015.
Transitioning to civilian healthcare, Dr. David Myles worked as a staff pediatrician at Carroll Hospital for three years and later at Holy Cross Hospital from 2019 to November 2022, where he continued to provide exceptional care to children in the emergency department. Since January 2020, he has held the position of staff pediatrician at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he coordinates outpatient pediatric learning and has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the SOWGAS faculty member of the year (2021) and Associate Master Clinician (2022).
Alongside his clinical duties, he serves as an assistant professor at the Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences, contributing to medical education through teaching and publishing articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. Concurrently, he has been serving as a council member on the Rockville City Council since November 2019, representing constituent interests and advocating for various initiatives, including public safety and environmental sustainability.
